Leadership

The ministers of St. John's are its people, called to serve God and the others by faith and with love. In this work, we are equipped and supported by clergy and by our Vestry (governing body) and officers.

The Rev. Ginger Solaqua, Priest-in-Charge

Ginger serves at the Episcopal Churches in Lowell, comprising St. John's as well as the English-speaking and Spanish-speaking communities at St. Anne's. She has been a priest for 13 years and a church staff member for 20 years. Her ministry has taken her from France to New York to California – though it’s important to note that she is from Texas and New Mexico. Ginger is a colleague at Bethany House of Prayer in Arlington, leading retreats in a range of contexts. She lives in Wakefield with her spouse. They love hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing in the White Mountains, reading, traveling, and eating Mexican food.

Valerie, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, has lived in New England since 1987.  She has been a teacher for over forty years, most recently in the Lowell Public Schools. For thirty years, she enjoyed teaching voice in her home and community.

Raised as a United Methodist, Valerie has served as church musician in a variety of denominations, but it was always the music and liturgy that brought her back to the Episcopal church where she was confirmed and experienced a call to the diaconate.

She enjoys reading, listening, praying, and most of all, proclaiming the Gospel! She has been at St. John's, Lowell since the pandemic and feels tremendously blessed to be here!
